Clear walls are wonderful, but they ask a lot of a project. It’s worth going in with your eyes open.
Design and engineering come first
Every clear wall needs careful structural design. The panel, the frame, the depth and the loads all have to be calculated. That means architects, structural engineers and specialist fabricators working together from an early stage.
Build time is longer
These pools are usually built on site in concrete, with the clear panels installed once the structure is ready. There’s more coordination involved, more trades and more steps where timing matters. Expect a longer, more involved project than a standard garden pool.
Delivery and access can be tricky
Large acrylic panels are big, heavy and precious. Getting them onto site and into position safely needs good access and careful lifting. Some locations simply can’t take them. A panel damaged in transit can mean a long wait for a replacement, so handling is planned with real care.
Planning and building control
A pool with a clear wall may be more visible and more unusual than a standard pool, and it may form part of a building. That can bring extra questions from planners and building control. Always check with your local council early and take advice specific to your property.
Ongoing care
Acrylic is tough, but it can scratch if cleaned carelessly. It needs soft cloths, suitable cleaners and a gentle approach. Over time, light polishing may be needed to keep it crystal clear. Seals around the edges should be checked as part of regular servicing.

A quick word on chemical safety
If you handle pool chemicals, always follow the label. Wear gloves and eye protection, and never mix chemicals. Add chemical to water, never water to chemical. Keep swimmers out until the water is balanced, and store everything safely away from children and pets.
